Remember back in the day when family car trips meant piling into the old station wagon? Well, with the 2024 Ford Expedition, those days are long gone.

Ample Size

The Expedition has a vast amount of space. With the third-row seating, it can hold up to eight passengers. The rows are nicely spaced to give everyone sizable leg and elbow room. If the regular wheelbase Expedition isn’t large enough for you, there are Expedition MAX models that add nearly a foot more to the regular wheelbase.

The Expedition MAX also increases your cargo space. The regular wheelbase has 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats. When you lay the second and/or third row of seats down, you get loads more cargo space.

Riding in Style

The Expedition has ten different trim levels, each with its own style. For instance, the Platinum model is bathed in comfort and style with its leather-trimmed Carmelo seating surfaces. While the XLT model has a Special Edition Package which sports a clean, sophisticated interior style. The second-row seating can be either the 40/20/40 bench-style seating or the power-folding Captain’s chairs. The Tri-Zone temperature control will make everyone comfortable.

The Infotainment System comes with SYNC 4 software, which can be accessed on the 12-inch touchscreen. It offers voice-activated, hands-free phone calls, texts, navigation, music, and temperature settings. FordPass Connect gives you a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, allowing you to connect up to 10 devices simultaneously. The dual-headrest rear seat Entertainment System gives the rear seats monitors to play games, get information, or watch movies.

State-of-the-Art Technology

Ford Co-Pilot Technologies equips the Expedition with safety features that include pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a lane-keeping system, BLIS (blind spot information system), auto high beams, a rearview camera, and connected navigation. BlueCruise, a hands-free cruise control, lets you drive hands-free on 97% of controlled-access highways in the US and Canada.

Impressive Performance

The Expedition’s engine is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 380 horsepower. For comparison, SUVs are said to produce, on average, 200 to 300 horsepower. The 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission offers seven distinct drive modes: Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Sport, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Sand, and Mud/Ruts.

The Expedition is an RWD, and you can choose a 4×2 or 4×4. If you choose a 4×4 and the heavy-duty trailer tow package, your Expedition can tow up to 9,200 pounds. It is equipped with a class IV trailer hitch receiver. Another plus in choosing a 4×4 is that you can go off-road with your Expedition, so if the trails where you are going get rough and/or muddy, you will have confidence in your SUV’s ability to navigate through them.
