1. Experience Spring in the Town’s Parks

Admire the spring blossoms in the beautifully landscaped Hicks Park, the town’s oldest park dating back to 1903 on West Bridge Street, and follow the boardwalks and walkways past colorful flowerbeds through Riverwalk and Pell Parks along the Kalamazoo River.

Stroll down the scenic nature trail on the tree-lined banks of the Kalamazoo River in Darrow Park at 607 Hicks Street and enjoy a scenic spring picnic where the Mill Race and Kalamazoo Rivers meet in Fannie Pell Park at 211 North Main Street.

In mid-April, Plainville’s downtown streets buzz with excitement during the annual Spring Soiree, when the restaurants and shops offer incredible specials. Attend engaging workshops on anything from cookie decorating and flower arranging to cocktail mixing and save heaps of cash at the downtown stores. 3. Spring Fling Market

Every spring from the middle to the end of April, the Plainville Farmers’ Market moves indoors on Saturdays for the very much anticipated Spring Fling Market inside City Hall at 211 North Main Street between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Buy crispy fresh spring produce from the local farmers, delicious home bakes, beautiful handmade quilts, and unique crafts.

There are always plenty of fun kids’ activities and a ton of giveaways and prizes. The market moves outdoors again at the beginning of May to the SW Donut Mill parking lot at 554 Allegan Street on Thursdays between 3 and 6:30 p.m. and will continue until the end of September. 

4. Concerts at the Bandshell

Plainwell celebrates the end of spring and the beginning of summer on May 24 with spectacular musical performances at the Bandshell at 250 North Anderson Street. Concerts at the Bandshell kick off with the Plainwell High School Choir and Jazz Band and features excellent bands and musicians on stages until August 2.

Music lovers can look forward to the sounds of the River Cities Concert Band, Zion Lion, Andy Baker, Otsego Jazz Ensemble, Blueback, Chick and the Boomers, and many more.
