Following the 2023 Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon and the return of the full marathon event, the 2024 event is poised to be another hugely successful race in downtown Kalamazoo, MI. Zeigler Auto Group is excited to support the marathon again this year alongside our partners. Dean's You'll love this old-style parlor that offers items that have been popular throughout the decades. You'll find new creations as well. They pile the scoops thick and high, so come with an appetite. Select from malts, shakes, monster mixes, sundaes, waffle cones, sodas, floats, splits, and more. For cones, choose from one, two, three, or four scoops with either hard or soft treats. They also have a baby dip cone for the little tikes. We also suggest the peanut butter fudge royal, the funnel sundae, the Bear Island, or the turtle sundae. Take home a pint, quart, half a gallon, or even a three-gallon tub as well. If you have dietary requirements, they offer dairy-free options. Stop here between the hours of 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. seven days a week. Find Dean's at 307 N. Sherwood Ave. 2. Plainwell This is a locals' favorite that offers homemade treats in a wide array of choices. Their specialty includes scoops with flavors like birthday cake, black cherry, chocolate chip cookie dough, Caribbean caramel, lemon, mud pie, salted caramel, raspberry chocolate bliss, peanut butter fudge, strawberry cheesecake, espresso flake, and many more. They also have dishes, sundaes, shakes, malts, and banana splits. The prices are affordable too. There's not a lot of seating inside, but we like to enjoy our treat outside, especially on a sunny day. This venue is located at 621 E. Bridge St. and is open every day except for Monday. 3. Dairy Freeze This old-fashioned walk-up store serves a little bit of everything. We recommend the Reeses peanut butter flurry, the tropical fruit parfait, a triple hard serve in a waffle or sugar cone, the Boston shake, a cherry slushie, or a root beer float. They also have Dilly bars and novelty popsicles. Be sure to check out their specialty desserts, which are listed on the window. Try the Grasshopper, the raspberry chip cheesecake, the Orange Pineapple Sunrise, or the Nutty Java. Dairy Freeze can be found at 1443 M-89 in Otsego, just four miles from Plainwell.
